Marty Who?
You may know me as the guy who fixed up the old “Snake Pit” (a.k.a. Clark Office Building, a.k.a. Arrowhead Lodge building) on Route 7 and Main Street. That took a little work, but the experience helped me fall in love with Milton. I lost count of how many folks stopped by to share stories about the building and its previous owner, Armand Brisson. Our community has a rich history, a great mix of people, and real opportunities to build on our small-town quality of life.
I grew up on a farm in Nebraska. I was driving a tractor years before I ever I every drove a car. I did all the usual stuff like sports, 4-H, and clubs. Eventually, I earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. From there, I took on on a career in marketing while enoying other interests including music, historic property renovations, and small-scale farming.
When my wife (Kari) and I moved to Vermont in 2017, we were daunted by the high price of property. We rented for some time before finding a place we could afford — a run-down brick building that needed a lot of love and hard work. In the end, we were honored with an Historical Preservation Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Since moving to Vermont, I’ve been involved in major property renovations and I’m currently working as a home improvement contractor in and around Milton. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening with Kari, making music with friends, reading, and trying to learn new languages with Duolingo.
